A pedestrian wayfinding system of signs designed by Matt Merkel Design and developed in collaboration with dawa, inc. and Corbin Design for the Urban Section of the Little Sugar Creek Greenway near Uptown Charlotte, NC feature orientation maps, cultural and natural history of the area, and details about public art and other amenities visitors encounter along the trail.
The challenge was to create a user-friendly signage program presenting a wide variety of information in a consistent and easy-to-follow system. Under the direction of dawa, inc., Matt Merkel Design developed the color coding system, map art, graphics and message hierarchy designed to help visitors with directions and orientation, inform them on the cultural and natural history of the area and provide details about public art and other amenities along the 1.3 mile Urban Section of the Little Sugar Creek Greenway in the revitalized Midtown neighborhood of Charlotte, NC. Developed for Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation, the system consists of 38 sign panels for thirteen free-standing exterior kiosks and table top interpretive displays.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”2285″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]
